Lutheran Downtown Hospital is a 197,052 square foot acute care hospital located at 702 Van Buren Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The facility was developed as the replacement for the former St. Joseph Hospital and opened for patient care in November 2021. The new hospital opened with 60 inpatient beds, with room planned for future expansion, reinforcing Lutheran Health Network’s continued presence in downtown Fort Wayne.
Henricksen provided furnishings for the facility, which includes a 19-room emergency department, operating suites, gastroenterology suites, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, and robotic-assisted surgery capability. Early planning also included cath labs, hyperbaric medicine, wound care, and other advanced services. The project emphasized a healing environment with more natural light, a modern exterior material palette, and sustainability goals tied to Green Globes building certification.
The reason we are proposing this project profile for your RFP is because it reflects several priorities that overlap with the AMC Tower, including acute care, inpatient beds, surgical services, diagnostic imaging, laboratory support, sustainability goals, and long-term clinical flexibility. It also shows our experience supporting a hospital environment where patient care, operational readiness, and future expansion were all part of the project context.
